STARVING ARTS LAUNCH

The first Starving Arts event in May 2013 was a collaboration with Bar Etica Sessions at the Bread and Roses venue in Clapham North.

This event invited local musicians to collaborate who just wanted to perform and found it difficult to find gigs in London.

Ade Seriki, Kylie Earl got together with Andres Posada from Bar Etica and  thought 'okay if we cant find them, lets just create our own.'  Kylie who was part of the collective had a music studio upstairs in the venue making it easier for everyone to communicate the idea and put things together with the venue. The devotion to music made it all happen naturally, through the continuously growing relationship at Bar Etica music jams and the passion to individually progress themselves as musicians, and then combining close friends who were extremely talented artists, dancers, actors, photographers, they practically had a team at their feet to make something beautiful and transforming.

'It was the perfect day, the atmosphere, the networking, the social aspect, the vibe of creativity together with the BBQ, you could relax with some summer food accompanied by a great selection of live music, live art and poetry, really experiencing something different at your doorstep.

The idea for the night just kept evolving because of the connections, it was possible to gain a wide variety of things happening with some Spanish sounds from Andaluz. A band who got everyone dancing, the soulfulness of Mudibu and Jazz Bailey, DJ's spinning into the night to name a few.
Overall it was a really nice event.

Ade discovered from the response that there is a need and vacancy for live art and music to be placed together on the same creative occasion. Starving Arts was born.......
